A rear-ending incident in Key Largo on Thursday March 29 led to a 78-year-old man being arrested after the incident escalated wildly to the point where he allegedly threatened to shoot the other driver. After Moises Pedro Arguez’ white GMC truck was accidently rear-ended by another motorist, Arguez and a passenger exited the truck and approached the motorist’s vehicle while yelling. The victim was told by Arguez and his companion to move away from the vehicle and, according to reports, Arguez made gestures at a handgun in his waistband, indicating he was threatening to shoot the other driver. Police attending the scene found a loaded handgun on his person – although, as Arguez had been convicted of a felony in the 1980s, he was not legally permitted to carry a firearm.
Arguez was arrested and taken to Stock Island Detention Center, where he is in custody pending a $50,000 bond.
